I got a couple questions regarding personal use, or personal conveyance.
Graham, I know you're not gonna be going to ELD since your FL is pre-2000, but maybe you can help me out. Or anybody else that knows.
I'll be starting to use an AOBRD device shortly, to keep from having to run an actual ELD for awhile yet...
So I've currently got 4 trucks. They're all registered at 26k, and what I normally haul with them is under 150 miles, so no logging. i do some long hauls, sometimes every week, sometimes only a couple times a month. Pretty much always more than 8 days/mo, tho... How does it work if I use different trucks for my long hauls? Does each truck need a wireless adapter, and I just connect whenever I switch? Or can I take 1 adapter with me from truck to truck, if I use something like Big Road, or Keep Trucking?
I use my trucks every weekend around home. I can obviously log that as PC, but what happens if I take off a week, and use the truck to go visit family out of state? Can I just log off duty, or am I required to log PC? From what I've read, it's a bit gray in that area, and seems to be up to the officer that's checking our logs as to how he looks at it. There's obviously no revenue being generated, and no load advancement during that time. I always go on duty at the same place I go off duty.
